You could help the kids make different types of handmade picture frames.  One great idea is to let them pant a clay pot however they want, make a paper flower from construction paper, and glue a cupcake liner in the center.  Then you could put the picture or a drawing in the center of the liner.  Fill the pot up with aquarium rocks or marbles, attach a pencil to the flower and stick it in.   Mom will absolutely adore the handmade gift.

Handmade Bookmarks

Handmade bookmarks can be fun to make.  You can take a different spin so many ways to make them.  You can take photos or a favorite drawing and put them on cardstock and seal them with laminating sheets.

Take the kids for a walk and gather small flat flowers like pansies and leaves, which you’ll then dry and press onto light brown cardstock. These precious floral bookmarks make a beautiful gift for Mom, and the kids will love making them, too.

Floral Herb Perfume

Made with water, essential oils, and assorted flowers and herbs, these fragrant “perfumes” won’t last more than a few days, but they make for fun gifts. I have heard of them being made with rose and sage, and another with lavender, lilac, and rosemary.

There are so many variations of gifts you can make with the kids for Mom, these are just a few ideas.  Hopefully, these will give you and the kids inspiration and you will even come up with more of your own ideas.  My kids always made gifts for me and I loved them more than anything that was store bought.  They had put time into making it just for me. Hopefully, the tradition of homemade gifts can be carried on for years to come, even as they grow up.
